Routing the APR Performance FRS Brake Ducts
Hey everyone! Recently I posted a picture on instagram and it seemed to pull a lot of questions and interest about the FRS/BRZ brake duct kit by APR Performance. There was so much interest I figured I’d toss up a blog on how we installed them and most importantly routed our ducting. Don’t worry, it took us a minute to figure out too, but now you can just copy what we did! Keep in mind, the race car has a several OEM components removed/moved (i.e. window washer fluid reservoir, crash beam, front bumper, etc.) but I figured this could at least give you an idea. (Sorry for the crappy pictures, all I had was my cell phone)
This is how we started, took the front bumper off and brought the hose through the front openings (leave your hood open and just let the hose feed through):

We’ll start with the passenger side first. Once you get your bumper off you’ll see where we started. Then we went directly under the OEM radiator hose:

Then goes straight down and on top of the control arm, you can see in these two shots:

Then you simply route the house directly “under” the suspension in between the space of the control arm or coilover/strut. Like so (this is still the passenger side):

Passenger side:

Now, let’s move to the driver’s side. Start the same way, start from the front and push the hose through the opening in the front, we had to take our AirAid intake air box out during installation (we are probably going to have to modify the air box to keep it from crunching our brake duct - this is something we’re still working on…

Next, do the same thing you did on the passenger side… Move the hose straight down, then have it lay on top of the lower control arm and under the suspension (don’t mind the curbage on our Weds… thanks go to Thunderhill):

Truly pretty simple. Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help. Hit me up on instagram @M1cheleAbbate
Thanks everyone! Stay tuned for our livery refresh launch for the 2015 season!
