A week ago we received our custom Fuel Safe Racing Cell and began to install in our Scion FRS. The customer service provided by Fuel Safe throughout the entire install was absolutely outstanding. From mounting the dry break to confirming the correct fitting sizes on things, Fuel Safe is number one in the game of safety and fuel cells.

We decided on the need for a fuel cell in our Scion FR-S touring car appliation after being taken out of a Majors Tours race because of fuel starvation on the high speed banking at Auto Club Speedway.

The saddle bag style OEM tank is great for street applications, but it just didn’t provide the features we need in our championship winning FR-S. We worked directly with Fuel Safe to create this custom 15 gallon set up in our car. Below you will find a breakdown of all the components of our set up. We did modify our trunk pan a little so that we could drop the tank as low as possible. It fits perfectly and install was pretty straight forward. We are also proud to have Autometer’s FuelSafe fuel level gauge in our car, along with the Aeromotive fuel pressure psi gauge on our regulator. The GRR Racing team took full advantage of the custom powdercoating offered by Fuel Safe and went with the glowing neon yellow to really make it pop!

The set up also includes Aeromotive counterparts - Fuel Pressure Regulator, Fuel Pump, and inline Fuel Filter. What you can’t see inside the cell is the foam baffling that will prevent all sloshing and also the collector box with one way check valves which ensure fuel is being fed at all times.

Fuel Cell: 15 gallon Pro Cell bladder housed in an aluminum can.

Collector:
In-tank collector/Surge tanks have one-way check valves allow for positive fuel intake under high G loads down to the last drop. A pump can be built into the collector making this an in-tank Surge tank that provides positive fuel pressure on your pump at all times.
