Fairly often our race team has to ship big bulky items, and truthfully, it can get pretty crazy to see what prices UPS, FedEx, and even the US Post Office charge to get said items through the mail. Fortunately, I’m here to tell you a little secret that not many may know about…

You know Greyhound, the buses you see traveling ALL over the US…. Yeah, those buses… They’ll ship your stuff, for CHEAP too!!

This time around, we needed to ship a replacement transmission for our FRS and get it from Las Vegas to our friends at Toyota of Olympia in the Pacific Northwest.

It’s super simple to do, you don’t even need all the measurements to get a quote on their website!

Simply enter where it’s headed, the longest dimension, the weight, and the value (up to $300) and ta-da a quote appears on their website!

The only trick is, whomever is receiving the item, has to pick it up at the Greyhound terminal, but, this is still worth the amount of money you save over shipping regularly.

For example, after hunting for a quote for our transmission, which was on a pallet that was 48″ x 21″ x 20″, most shippers wanted $200+ to ship, and that was even with it already palletized and at locations with forklifts…

Greyhound quoted me at $119! And here’s what it looked like when I sent it on its way.

In a matter of two days, the transmission safely arrived in Tacoma, WA and here’s a photo of what it looked like when it arrived!

I can’t say enough about Greyhound and it’s shipping service. It is absolutely AWESOME! Based off what the website says, it COULD take up to 8 days for an item to travel over 1200 miles, but with the priority shipping it took less time than it would have on a shipper’s truck like UPS, FedEx, or even LTL trucking!
